Responding to a Bomb Threat

It is always desirable that more than one person listen in on the call if possible.  Use a covert signal or system to alert a coworker and have them privately join the call.

Remain calm so that additional information may be obtained.  Tell the caller that the building is occupied and cannot be evacuated in time, the bomber may be willing to give more specific information about location, components or method of initiation.

* Keep the caller on the line as long as possible.  Ask him or her to repeat the message.  Record every word spoken by the person.

* Pay attention to every word and listen for background noise.

* Report the immediately to your superiors.
